Business Intelligence Associate (IPS Grow)

Salary: £50,000
Location: UK

Social Finance are looking for a Business Intelligence Associate to work in our IPS Grow Team, reporting into the IPS Grow Data Manager. One of IPS Grow’s key responsibilities is enabling the collection and analysis of consistent data from IPS providers to provide a holistic picture of how the IPS model is performing and support evidence-based strategic decision-making at local, regional and national levels.

The Opportunity

As a Business Intelligence Associate, you will own the workstream on data analysis and insights for IPS Grow. You will be responsible for scoping analysis requests from IPS Grow’s commissioners, delivery team and senior leadership team, delivering them through the creation of insightful and interactive dashboards and reports, and shaping pieces of thematic analysis that will drive forward learning and insight for IPS Grow and the sector as a whole. The role holder will be supported by a peer group of technical experts who work across Social Finance.

The Team

IPS Grow is a national programme designed to support the expansion of Individual Placement and Support (IPS) services in mental health, primary care, and drug and alcohol teams across England. The programme is led by Social Finance in partnership with the Centre for Mental Health. It is funded by NHS England and Improvement (NHSE/I), the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID). A core element of the programme is the expert assistance provided by a team of IPS experts, known as IPS Grow Leads, to support providers to improve their fidelity to the IPS model and achieve better employment outcomes for their clients. Employment outcomes are tracked and monitored via the IPS Grow Reporting Tool — the national performance management tool for mental health and drug & alcohol IPS providers in the country.

IPS Grow is the largest and most rapidly growing team within Social Finance and we are excited to continue to build this work.

Responsibilities

  • Scoping and prioritisation: Accurately scoping analysis requests directly with IPSG’s commissioners such as NHS England and OHID, as well as our delivery team and senior leadership team, determining the process to deliver these requests given existing data and systems, and committing a feasible timeline for delivery. These will be for a combination of regular monthly/quarterly reports as well as ad hoc pieces of analysis.
  • Report development: Designing, developing, and maintaining interactive and insightful Salesforce and PowerBI dashboards tailored to meet the specific needs of the commissioner or colleague requesting it.
  • Data integration: Collaborating with client and specialist teams in Social Finance to gather, transform, and integrate data from various sources, including planning systems and engineering data sources.
  • Creating visualisations: Leveraging Salesforce and PowerBI capabilities to create visuals and incorporate analytics to provide deeper insights.
  • Drawing out learning and insight: Identifying and leveraging opportunities for pieces of thematic analysis that will distil learning and insight from our data and drive forward IPSG’s contributions to the IPS sector.
  • Support systems improvements: Feed into planning around data and systems improvements that will enhance IPSG’s analysis capabilities and better meet the needs of our partners.

About You

It is important you have a mix of the skills and experiences below and, most importantly, will be excited about the opportunity to learn and support.

Essential skills and behavioural competencies

  • Proven data analysis expertise: experience leading data analysis and visualisation projects and a proven track record of strong analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail and ability to accomplish tasks with thoroughness, accuracy and reliability. Data sources are not highly complex, but you will have the freedom to advise how more complex techniques could benefit the system and end users.
  • Experience in client-facing roles, including accurately scoping data analysis requests and managing senior-level stakeholder expectations. This includes excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interpretation of stakeholder requirements and risk management.
  • Health data experience: experience working with sensitive health data in the UK, and an understanding of associated data protection risks. While you will be able to draw on the expertise of our Chief Information Security Officer, an understanding of information security is critical to ensure compliance with GDPR and other relevant legislation.
  • Salesforce dashboarding: Salesforce will be the primary platform for combining data sets and creating reports. Therefore, experience creating dashboards and reports in Salesforce is essential.
  • Organisation skills: a high level of organisation and reliability, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and requests, prioritising them effectively and ensuring they are responded to in timely and accurate manner. A high level of trustworthiness, integrity, and empathy.

The following are desirable, but not essential:

  • Experience working with health and government partners such as NHSE, OHID, DWP
  • Knowledge of the IPS practice area
  • PowerBI experience
  • Airtable experience
  • Knowledge of PowerQuery / SQL, the ability to query data sets
