Our Board

The Social Finance Board has 12 non-executive directors and has been chaired by David Blood since 2016. Our most recent members — Andy Griffiths, Carlotta Saporito and Matthew Gorden — joined in October 2024. 

David Blood — Chair

David Blood is a Founding Partner and the Senior Partner of Generation Investment Management. 

Adam Swersky — CEO

Adam is the Chief Executive Officer of Social Finance. He developed and led the health and work team in Social Finance before being appointed CEO in in March 2022. Adam has been with the organisation since 2014.

Toby Eccles

Toby co-founded Social Finance in 2007. Having led teams to deliver some of Social Finance’s most pioneering work, including the world’s first Social Impact Bond, Toby’s focus now is developing and building out new areas of impact. 

Andy Griffiths

Andy has over 30 years of investment experience across Global Equities, ESG investor engagement and Private Equity. 

Carlotta Saporito

Carlotta is the Head of Impact Investing at J.P. Morgan Private Bank.

Helen Edwards

Helen is currently a Non-Executive Director with the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, a Trustee of the Peabody Housing Trust, and Chair of Recovery Focus.

Lela Kogbara

Lela was a senior leader in the public sector for 25 years, 16 of which were in Islington where she was Assistant Chief Executive for the Council. 

Lorna Shaw

Lorna is an executive coach, working with leaders on transformational change, leadership excellence, and organisational development. 

Matthew Gordon

Matthew Gordon OBE is the founder and CEO of Spectra, a multi-disciplinary social impact company based in Wolverhampton. 

MB Christie

MB has over 25 years of experience leading digital product transformations in organisations such as the Financial Times, Rightmove, Tech Nation and Simply Business. 

Michelle Harrison

Michelle is the Global CEO of Kantar Public, a global public policy advisory business. She was previously the CEO of the WPP Government and Public Sector Practice.

Neil Jeffery

Neil was CEO of Water & Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP) from 2014 to 2022, a global social enterprise advancing water and sanitation services for the low-income customer segment in emerging markets.

Robert Gillespie

Robert is a former director of NatWest. He served as the Director General of the UK Takeover Panel and as chair of Somerset House Trust and the Council of Durham University.

Sarah Gordon

Sarah Gordon is the former founding CEO of the Impact Investing Institute and a Visiting Professor in Practice in the sustainable finance programme at the London School of Economics’ Grantham Research Institute on climate and the environment.
