Bex Spencer
Bex started her career in financial services, quickly realising that she wanted to use her experience to help funding improve lives and create lasting social change. She joined Social Finance in 2016 and now specialises in working with government and the third sector to create practical responses to social problems. She was the national programme manager of Drive, an innovative response to domestic abuse, and currently oversees our investment into employment programmes for people with disabilities.
Bex is passionate about preventing violence against women and girls, and is a Trustee of SafeLives, a charity dedicated to ending domestic abuse for good.
Your ideal dinner party guests?
N. K. Jemisin, Octavia E. Butler and Ann Leckie: all are or were pioneers in (traditionally white male dominated) sci fi writing. It would be amazing to glimpse into their creative process!
What are your hobbies and interests?
My niche hobby is as a volunteer narrator for a global project that is creating audiobook versions of every out of copyright book!
What’s your favourite board game?
A co-operative game like Pandemic: otherwise I have to spend the whole time trying to restrain my competitive spirit!
