Helen is currently a Non-Executive Director with the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, a Trustee of the Peabody Housing Trust, and Chair of Recovery Focus.
She was formerly a Trustee of Lloyds Bank Foundation and Non-Executive Director of the Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust.
From 2002 to 2016, Helen held various roles in central government departments including the Home Office, Ministry of Justice and the Department for Communities and Local Government. At DCLG she was the Deputy Permanent Secretary and Director General for Local Government and Public Services.
Over the 20 years prior to her time in government she was at Save the Children and then NACRO, the social justice charity, latterly as CEO. Helen started her career as a social worker in East Sussex.
