Karen joined Social Finance in April 2021 as a Senior Analyst, working with the Health and Social Care team on end of life care projects.
Prior to Social Finance, she was a Program Assistant for the UCSF Global Health Group, providing fundraising support, managing donor relationships, and developing operations and strategy for a diverse range of global health issues. She then moved to India to become a Fulbright-Nehru Scholar at the mental health NGO Sangath and led a qualitative study on adolescent substance use across three states. Karen has dabbled in research on adolescent mental health trends across the UK for the Mental Health Foundation, the intersection of food insecurity and HIV/AIDs in the San Francisco Bay Area and Kenya, and post-traumatic growth rates in Syrian refugees.
Karen is passionate about youth mentorship and fostering community-based initiatives. Outside of work, she enjoys learning foreign languages (currently, her count is three!), spending time in nature, and travelling.
