Marta Garcia

Marta co-leads our International team, with broad responsibilities over strategy, business development, income generation, and staff growth and performance.

She also heads up Social Finance’s work in Latin America, with a particular emphasis on using outcomes-based approaches and innovative finance solutions to improve the results of public and private social programmes, policies and system-wide initiatives.

Marta brings a hybrid set of skills to Social Finance, with extensive private sector experience in strategy consulting (Boston Consulting Group) and commercial banking (Capital One Bank), and a long track record supporting the growth, sustainability and impact-creation capabilities of non-profit organisations (UnLtd, The Bridgespan Group, Leaders’ Quest Foundation, Population Services International).

Marta is a Spanish national, though her career spans several countries and cultures, and is motivated by a desire to reduce inequality and create meaningful positive impact on people’s lives. Marta was the Vice-chair of FPA, a leading UK-based sexual health charity, and is currently a Trustee and Treasurer of TPI, a global non-profit organisation enabling SDG-focused partnerships across sectors.

If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be?

I’d love to be able to fix anything that broke in my house. How handy would that be??

What do you do to unwind?

Most definitely reading — I have to do it every night before I go to sleep to properly relax.

What’s your favourite board game?

Not a game, but I love doing puzzles — especially jigsaws and logic ones, but really any kind.

What’s your speciality in the kitchen?

I love cooking and I am a crack at opening the fridge and making something out of what’s in there.
